Worry no more, LinkedIn Fam, as the latest audio feature will ease your stress of mistakes in your name pronunciation.

LinkedIn’s new feature allows you to record audio to help those who might find it difficult to pronounce your first and the last name. It’s a relief for many as this will allow them to address their connections correctly making good first impressions.

All thanks to Joseph Akoni, Product manager at LinkedIn who has been working on this latest audio features since last year. Audio clip within 10 seconds can be updated using LinkedIn’s mobile app on Android and iOS. Moreover, the playback option will be accessible on both the mobile app and the Desktop.

Let’s check out the simple process to set up the name pronunciation feature.
  1. Open the LinkedIn App on your mobile
  2. Tap on View Profile and then the Edit icon
  3. Tap on the Record Name Pronunciation option
  4. Tap the recording button and hold to record
  5. Check if the audio is clear (avoid background noise)
  6. Tap the use button if you are happy with the clip
  7. Tap Save and you have successfully set up your name (audio).
  8. Check on Desktop site an audio icon will be next to your name
  9. You have the option to delete and record a new one as well

Tips to Remember:
  1. Record within 10 seconds
  2. Avoid places that have too much noise
  3. The phone should be four inches from the mouth
  4. Speak slowly for better result
  5. Make sure to stress on each syllable clearly
  6. You can limit who can listen to your name (First Degree connections Only or All LinkedIn Members)
